I went to a movie today with my friend, K. We saw The Artist and agreed that it was very good. It probably won't win the Oscar for Best Picture, but it definitely is deserving of its nomination.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed an almost exclusively silent movie. I was also surprised that very little of the dialogue was communicated by intertitle. Sometimes it was easy to either read the actors' lips or decipher what was said by the context of the scene. But at other times I would have liked to have had an intertitle to make the interchange between characters more clear.
Best of all, The Artist has a happy ending. For awhile, I wasn't sure it would turn out that way. : /
